The International Kite Festival in Berck-sur-Mer is as much about shared amazement as it is about spectacle. Against the backdrop of the Channel, master kite-makers from around the world unveil their latest creations: vast marine creatures, fantastical flying figures, giant octopuses and familiar characters that seem to drift straight out of childhood memories. Heads tilt skywards, feet stay firmly in the sand, and time slows to the rhythm of the wind.
Families are very much at the heart of the festival. Children can discover the simple joy of making and flying their own kites in a safe, friendly setting, while parents soak up the colours, movement and seaside atmosphere. With hundreds of thousands of visitors gathering on the beach, the experience remains remarkably open, playful and accessible — a celebration best enjoyed together.
A joyful, poetic event where the horizon becomes a playground and the sky tells stories.
